Who would have thought the mighty Wether's song would be sung so loudly in "The Australian Dressing Room" at the SCG?
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Sunday! Our 1st grade squad did us proud and took the State Cup for the second time in a close and at times tense game.
To simon and his team go are heartiest congratulations and thanks.

The game has been well documented, but I must mention a few highlights. The great batting of Chad and Pom and the fine spells from Hoges and of course “Pie”, the big fella couldn’t get the smile off his face as he lay in the spar after the game. Pom and Timmy bowled well and Tim’s run out was important, just great.

To all the boys who played it was an experience they will never forget, Jack Downing walking out with 1 ball to face was 10 feet tall, as were mum and dad in the stand, Ben Egan, Harry and Mick sitting in the cubicles in the dressing rooms before the game was priceless.

Simon’s leadership under pressure was outstanding and Goodie was setting the example all day, continually encouraging the team to a great win and Greggy, well he was like a kid in a candy shop and mum and dad flew down to see it all. ( 4 at the SCG, now that was worth seeing).

What about the other team, the hundred odd of us who went down to both support our team, but also experience something very few of the thousands who play our great game will never experience. To have a free run of the members and for those lucky enough to be able to walk onto the hollowed turf and gaze at the great arena was an experience we will never forget! I can still see Evan laying down behind the stumps to get a good picture!

Well done to everyone involved….it was a great day! In particular Pratty and Krausy for their work in organising the day out!

Last Saturday was also a special day, when we successfully held the “Gordon Goffett” the trophy we play for with Cardiff in honour of a great friend to our club, the late Gordon Goffett, (Goffo’s dad). It was great to see a great crowd of our blokes back at the RSL for the presentation. The day means a lot to the family and to both clubs, well done everyone.

This weekend though we are back down to earth with a very important game, for every grade against Wallsend. They are 1 point ahead of us in first grade and are up there in every grade and the Club Championship. Good luck to everyone!
